Using NAS Feature


This page explains on NAS feature that can access to the connected USB storage device over network.

1. Storage Device Control

USB storage device can be accessed over network when it is connected to DS-600.



2. Common Path for USB Storage Device

Common path of the USB storage device is as follows.

<<When a valid volume label is configured on the partition>>

\\HOSTNAME\VolumeLabel(DeviceNo:PartitionNo)

<<When a valid volume label is NOT configured on the partition>>

\\HOSTNAME\Drive(DeviceNo:PartitionNo)
HOSTNAME Host name of DS-600
VolumeLabel Volume label name of the partition
DeviceNo USB device number
PartitionNo Partition number

4. Name Resolution

DS-600 supports the name resolution feature that can converts NetBIOS name (Host name) to IP Address (or IP Address to NetBIOS name). Following protocols are supported.



5. Configuring NAS Feature

Access the Web page of DS-600.


The login page is displayed.
Enter the password for DS-600 and click Login.

  • By default, no password is configured to DS-600.

The Web page of DS-600 is displayed.
From the left menu on the Web page, click Network Configuration - NAS.


The NAS Configuration page is displayed.
Configure each setting and click Submit.

NAS Enables/Disables the NAS feature. When ENABLE is selected, the USB storage device can be used as NAS. ENABLE
User Name Sets a user name for NAS feature. None
Password Sets a user password for NAS feature. None
Access Rights Sets access right of users. Full access

The Restart page is displayed. Click Restart to restart DS-600.
The changes will take effect after restart.

When the login page is displayed, the reboot is completed.
Finish the Web browser.
